How We Met

Kayla & Ted at a wedding
Ted and I met in July 2007 at a wedding. The bride was my college roommate and the groom was Ted's old roommate. Ted was an usher at the wedding. We did not meet until the reception, where I was standing by the bar with a couple of friends, one who was a bridesmaid in the wedding. Ted came up to us and offered to buy us a drink, so we lined up at the bar and took a shot together.

After the drink, Ted tried to bounce a quarter into my friend Jess's drink, which he missed. Jess then tried to bounce the quarter back into Ted's drink, missing it entirely and hitting the personal attendant, who stood on the opposite side of Ted. The personal attendant threw the quarter at us, hitting me in the collar bone. I was not paying attention to what was going on, so when the coin hit me, it startled me and I jumped back. Ted laughed and made a comment (one that I will not repeat on here) and I bounced the quarter towards him. Of course, it landed in his drink perfectly (I wouldn't be able to do this ever again I'm sure). Ted was so shocked that I had landed the quarter into his drink and I think that's where the chemistry started.

Every time he saw me that night, he had a quarter ready to throw into my drink, but I was too fast for him (he was never able to get the quarter into my drink). We ended up dancing the last dance at the wedding reception, where he invited me to the after hours, which happened to be at the bar at the hotel we were staying at. So my friend and I met him and his friends at the bar, where Ted and I spent the entire evening talking and getting to know each other. After the bar closed, we walked around the hotel, going to different rooms where the wedding party was staying. We ended up walking around and talking until the wee hours of the morning. I ended up giving him my number and he called me a week later. We've been together ever since.
